Cubitus Grand Date, ref. 5822P-001
To mark the birth of its new Cubitus collection embodying a unique blend of boldness and elegance, Patek Philippe unveils an all-new model featuring novel displays combining instantaneous grand date, day and moon-phase indications.
An all-new complication in an all-new collection
In keeping with its focus on legibility, precision and slenderness, Patek Philippe has developed a new movement – caliber 240 PS CI J LU – based on the famous ultra-thin self-winding 240 caliber. In all, the development of this new movement involved the filing of six specific patent applications, notably relating to energy management for the various displays and their simultaneous 18-millisecond jumps. Among other things, these new innovations ensure perfect alignment of the grand date numerals and the possibility of correcting all indications at any time.
A dial combining character and legibility
The grand date is displayed at 12 o'clock through a twin aperture with a beveled embossed frame, by means of two disks placed on the same plane. The coaxial day and moon-phase indications at 7 o'clock are complemented by an asymmetrical small seconds subdial between 4 and 5 o’clock. White gold applied baton-style hour markers and white gold rounded baton-style hours and minutes hands – all with white luminescent coating – stand out against the sunburst blue, horizontally embossed dial.
A modern, "casual chic" style
The distinctive design of the square platinum case, with its 45mm diameter and elegantly slender profile, is accentuated by the contrast between polished and vertical satin-brushed finishes. Like all platinum Patek Philippe models, this timepiece is adorned with a diamond – for the first time baguette-cut – set on the bezel at 6 o'clock. The modern style is enhanced by a strap in navy blue composite material with fabric pattern, contrasting cream stitching and platinum Cubitus fold-over clasp.
